Located at the foothills of the Westerwald, the municipality of Vallendar with the local communities of Niederwerth, Urbar, Weitersburg and the town of Vallendar presents itself as the gateway to the “Upper Middle Rhine Valley” World Heritage Site.

Old town houses from the 17th and 18th centuries characterize the townscape of Vallendar and invite you to immerse yourself in the town’s past. Stroll through the streets and marvel at the half-timbered houses with their intricate carvings.

Thanks to its special location, the town is a recognized Kneipp and climatic health resort in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Be brave and climb the listed Kaiser Friedrich Tower dating from 1899 for a fantastic view over the Rhine Valley, the Hunsrück and the Eifel mountains.

As a university town and home to the Pallottine School of Philosophy and Theology, Vallendar enjoys an excellent international reputation with the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.

The world-famous place of pilgrimage in the Schoenstatt district – the origin of the Schoenstatt Movement – had a strong influence on Vallendar.

Discover Niederwerth, the only inhabited river island in Germany, in the middle of the Rhine and enjoy the delicious local asparagus.

Opposite the Deutsches Eck is the attractive village of Urbar with the beautifully situated Besselich monastery estate. What began in late antiquity with the construction of a small chapel became a stately and absolutely worth seeing highlight of the region over the course of time.

The municipality of Weitersburg also offers a magnificent view over the Rhine heights. Visit the landmark of Weitersburg and marvel at the 44-metre-high tower of the St. Marien parish church, built in 1904.
