Welcome to the land of volcanoes! Where geysers shoot out of the ground and you can read about the history of the Eifel like in a book.
Discover a piece of contemporary history, walk along ancient Roman paths and be impressed by unique natural spectacles. The volcano park offers you a colorful bouquet of adventure and knowledge.

With the geyser in Andernach, you have the opportunity to experience a natural phenomenon in a class of its own when the 60-metre-high cold water fountain shoots up into the air. A visit to the adventure center followed by a boat trip on the Rhine to Namedyer Werth rounds off the adventure.
Deep underground, the Lava Dome in Mendig. Be there when a volcano "erupts" and feel the powerful forces at work that once shaped the beautiful Eifel region. If you are brave enough, you can descend right next door into the 30-metre-deep lava cellars and learn interesting facts about basalt mining and beer storage in Mendig. You might even spot one of the many bats that like to hang upside down from the ceiling here.

You can embark on an adventurous journey into the past at the Volcano Park Information Center in Plaidt. An exciting movie takes you into the world of volcanoes and in the exhibition with large illuminated pictures you can learn more about the mining history of basalt and tuff.

And what does the Roman have to do with this region? We will show you in the Meurin Roman mine in Kretz. At original sites, you can become a master builder yourself and see what it was like in the Eifel around 300 AD.

You can travel a little further back in time in the Grubenfeld adventure world in Mayen. You can experience and marvel at 7,000 years of basalt mining. Help a quarryman with blasting, craning or carrying and learn about the history of basalt mining in the German Pumice Museum the history of the development of the pumice industry.

Eight information and experience centers present the many sides of the Eifel. Round off your journey through contemporary history by visiting the many natural, cultural and industrial monuments of the volcano park or enjoy the nature and tranquillity of Lake Laach.
