As soon as the first white flakes fall from the sky, it's time to get out into nature. The region is transformed into a veritable wonderland and nobody stays indoors any longer. A wide range of leisure and sports activities are available for you.
Sledging with the children, hiking through snow-covered landscapes or spending the day in the heated swimming pool winter on the Rhine, Moselle and Eifel has many beautiful things in store for you.
When the smell of roasted almonds and hot mulled wine wafts through the streets and alleyways of the snow-covered villages during the Advent season, you will know why the vacation region is not only a popular vacation destination in summer. Marvel at the illuminated alleyways, lovingly decorated courtyards and Santa Claus with his reindeer in Winningen in a blaze of light. The Christmas markets in Mayen, Vallendar or Andernach, for example, where the living nativity scene is the absolute highlight, also invite you to visit them.
Winter in the Eifel leaves nothing to be desired
Not only in summer, but also in winter, the beautiful and varied dream trails and dream paths in the region invite you to explore. Enjoy the view over frozen landscapes, snow-covered hills and discover the tracks of animals in the snow.
Put on your skis and enjoy the perfectly groomed slopes of all levels of difficulty or learn new tricks and jumps in the ski and snowboard fun park in Arft.
Of course, some of the museums and attractions are also open in winter.

In Arft, not far from the Hohe Acht, the Mayen winter sports club operates a winter sports facility with floodlights, two ski lifts, two piste preparation machines, a ski school for members and a children's slope. A floodlight system makes it possible to ski down two 450 m long slopes until 21:30 in the evening. For cross-country skiers, there are groomed trails between three and twelve kilometers in length.

Get into the Christmas spirit and enjoy the contemplative pre-Christmas period at your favorite Christmas market. Numerous Advent and Christmas markets in our region invite you to stroll and browse. Event highlights include the "Living Nativity Scene in Andernach" or the "Winningen im Lichterglanz" event. But small artists' markets and Advent concerts are also guaranteed to get you in the Christmas spirit.
