Adventure hikes on our dream trails
Springy forest paths and enchanted rocky trails that lead to defiant knights' castles, adventurous playgrounds and great views over the river valleys carved deep into the primary rock with their sparkling rivers and streams characterize the hiking trails in Traumpfade-Land. For families, there are premium walking trails - the Traumpfädchen in Rhein-Mosel-Eifel-Land. These are between 3 and 7 kilometers long and are therefore ideal for the whole family.

Sayn and Vulkanpark climbing gardens
In the middle of the forest, 140 stations made of ropes and obstacles up to 22 m high are waiting to be climbed by you. We promise - a day in the climbing forest is guaranteed to be a real experience. Children from the age of four and a reach height of 1.20 m can climb in Takka-Tukka-Land. In our children's course, kids will find climbing elements specially designed for them close to the ground. Depending on where you are staying, you can choose between the climbing garden in Bendorf/Sayn on the Rhine or the Vulkanpark climbing park near Mayen in the Eifel.

Canoeing or SUP on the Moselle
Set off on a canoe tour along the picturesque terraced Moselle. Experience the beauty of the tranquil Moselle valley on a leisurely 2.5-hour round trip to Dieblich. The tour starts and ends in Winningen. Afterwards, you can visit the idyllic wine village in Winningen and enjoy a leisurely meal there. Tip: Stand-up paddling is also available for older kids.

Living castle - Ehrenburg in Brodenbach
Ehrenburg Castle comes to life on all Sundays and public holidays from Easter to All Saints' Day. Guests of all ages can follow in the footsteps of the Ehrenberg knights: on an exciting castle tour and the castle puzzle. The castle potter invites you to watch historical craftsmanship. And: visitors dressed in proper costume are always particularly welcome! If you dream of celebrating your birthday in a real knight's castle, the "Living Castle" is just the place for you.

World of volcanoes - lava dome with lava cellar
In Mendig, you can experience a multimedia volcanic eruption in the Lava Dome and get a feel for the forces at work. In the exhibition, children can then get to the bottom of the volcanic phenomena themselves at various stations. Right next to the Lava Dome, the lava cellars are particularly attractive on warm days. These underground basalt cellars have a constant temperature of around 7°C.

Geyser Andernach
Enjoy fascinating views of the famous Rhine Valley on a 15-minute boat trip before witnessing the majestic water fountain of the world's highest cold-water geyser shoot up to 60 meters into the lush greenery of the Namedyer Werth nature reserve. Dare to get up close and smell and taste the water from the geyser. Afterwards, the boat will take you back to the starting point in the Andernach Rhine facilities.

Cycle tour in the Maifeld on a disused railroad line
This trail is manageable in length, the climbs are easy to tackle and there are interesting things to see and experience to the left and right of the trail. The best conditions for a relaxed family outing. Lined with trees and bushes, the section between Polch and Mertloch runs like a green tunnel through the gently undulating fields of the Maifeld. The almost flat path is only crossed by two small farm tracks - ideal for families with small children. Playgrounds in Polch and Mertloch right next to the cycle path invite children to let off steam. On warm days, the water playground in Mertloch is a great place to cool off. Refreshments are available at the old railroad station in Polch and the old railroad station in Ochtendung.

Princes, castles and butterflies
Look forward to two fairytale worlds that you can visit with one ticket: the Garden of Butterflies and the New Museum of the Princes of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn.
Let yourself be whisked away to a small, magical tropical world in the Butterfly Garden, to palm trees and banana trees, rippling waterfalls and the colorful abundance of exotic butterflies. Here, colorful butterflies from South America, Africa and Asia fly freely between the visitors from one flower to another, always in search of nectar.
In the impressive Neues Museum, Prince Alexander and Princess Gabriela zu Sayn-Wittgenstein provide a very private insight into the life of their aristocratic family. You get to know Prince Peter, the Russian Field Marshal General, and his daughter-in-law, the beautiful Princess Leonilla. She led the family back to Sayn in 1850.

Sayner hut
Since 2017, the Sayner Hütte can be experienced as a monument, museum and adventure site. History and technology can be discovered here at various exhibition stations and on touchscreens. A staging of light and sound takes visitors back to the time of pig iron smelting.
