Andernach
Where the Rhine meets the Eifel
More than 2000 years of history and culture make Andernach one of the oldest towns in Germany.
Take a stroll through one of the most beautiful Rhine facilities on the Middle Rhine and enjoy the charm of the historic old town. Numerous restaurants and cafés invite you to linger.
Those who would rather embark on a little adventure can go on a fascinating journey underground at the Geyser Center. Afterwards, take a boat to the Namedyer Werth. Let yourself be fascinated when, after just a few steps, the Andernach cold-water geyser, the highest in the world at 60 meters high, shoots out of the earth in front of you.
Snacking expressly permitted, instead of “no trespassing”! As an “edible town“, Andernach offers a special kind of highlight. Public green spaces have been planted with vegetables, espalier fruit and herbs, so feel free to help yourself.
As the starting point for two stages of the RheinBurgenWeg, Andernach also offers hiking enjoyment and fantastic views. Wild and romantic nature awaits you on the Traumpfad Höhlen- und Schluchtensteig Kell (Kell Cave and Gorge Trail), where mighty rock faces rise up alongside the trail and you can get a taste of the primeval forest atmosphere in the Wolfsschlucht gorge.
More tranquil, but no less impressive, is the Kleiner Stern dream trail with its breathtaking view of the Rhine.
A good network of cycle paths invites you to explore the banks of the Rhine.
Alternatively, you can also enjoy the view of the baker’s town from one of the boats that dock in Andernach and on which you have the option of a round trip.
