Variety guaranteed …

The backdrop of the Neuwied Basin characterizes the entire tour – all in white during the cherry blossom season! The cultivation of elderberries is something very special here. Contrasts make the tour so attractive – the Rhine valley and the hills of the Eifel, intensive farming and the peaceful orchard slopes.

The highlight is the view between Kettig and Saffig of the volcanoes of the Eifel and into the Rhine Valley as far as the Westerwald on the opposite side. And don’t forget the idyllic scenery along the river Nette, which gives the route its name and flows into the Rhine at Weißenthurm.

The last few kilometers of the cycle route run directly along the Rhine, very quietly, accompanied only by the rustling of the poplars and willows. The small loop from Mülheim-Kärlich after the Roman villa runs through the middle of the orchards. A further loop leads with a steady ascent along a beautiful path to Bassenheim.
