Moselle-Maifeld cycle route
Idyll and vastness …
After starting at the Moselle, a narrow road leads through the Schrumpftal valley, accompanied by the small stream that meanders leisurely through the wooded valley. Again and again you pass former mills with small meadow clearings. The detour from Pillig into the Elzbach valley offers a “wild” contrast. A short, very steep section leads to the waterfall at the Pyrmonter mill, a popular excursion destination.
The special feature of this tour is the connection between the valleys and the vastness of the Maifeld. As you cycle over the gently rolling hills of the Eifel, the collegiate church of Münstermaifeld forms an impressive landmark. A sightseeing break should definitely be planned here; the cycle route leads directly through the old town of Münstermaifeld. The smaller villages such as Mörz, Metternich and Pillig are also ideal for a leisurely break.
