New Traumpfade app now has even more region to offer

KREIS MYK. For almost nine years, it has been the ideal tour companion for all hikes on the Traumpfade and Traumpfädchen trails in the Mayen-Koblenz district – the free Traumpfade app. Following an update, Rhein-Mosel-Eifel-Touristik (REMET) has recently launched an app that not only has a new and attractive look, but also offers users a wide range of new and innovative content. “The Traumpfade app has been very popular for years. I am all the more pleased that we have succeeded in expanding the range and making it possible to experience the tourist potential of our ‘hikeable’ district digitally,” says District Administrator Dr. Alexander Saftig.

The design and structure of the new Traumpfade app is very similar to that of a website. Operation is correspondingly intuitive and simple. The heart of the app is of course still the tour descriptions for the Traumpfade and Traumpfädchen trails. A symbol at the top left of the screen takes users to a menu that takes them directly to a list of all premium hiking trails in the Rhine, Moselle and Eifel regions as well as the popular walking trails. As soon as the desired circular hiking trail has been selected and clicked on, the tour appears in a detailed map view. In the next step, you can view further details such as directions, elevation profile, duration and route length. The individual tours can also be downloaded and exported as GPX files or added to a personal watch list. This gives users lots of information in advance and a good overview of the planned hike.

“The update became necessary because, sooner or later, the old app would no longer have been compatible with the constantly evolving smartphone operating systems. However, we were able to make a virtue of this technical necessity and implement new content and functions. We now have the opportunity to convey significantly ‘more region’ via the new Traumpfade app,” explains Michael Schwippert, Deputy Managing Director of REMET. The Rhein-Mosel-Eifel-Touristik now presents guided hikes under the new menu item “Events” and makes suggestions in the excursion tips for what else hikers can experience in the Mayen-Koblenz vacation region. Another new feature is voice navigation, which can be used along suggested or self-planned tours. Along the circular hiking trails, the app displays sights, accommodation, places to stop for refreshments and much more. “The summit finder is also back. Unfortunately, the developer was unable to integrate the previous function of the Traumpfade star into the new app. However, there will be a new challenge before the end of the first half of the year, which we are currently working on together with Outdooractive. So you can look forward to it,” says Michael Schwippert.

The Traumpfade app is available free of charge for the iOS and Android operating systems in the respective app stores.
