Literary discovery of dream paths with the artistic director

KREIS MYK. The passion for hiking has always been reflected in poetry – in the Mayen-Koblenz district, it has been the other way around for five years now: together with Rhein-Mosel-Eifel-Touristik (REMET), the Mayen Castle Festival offers guided literary hikes with poetic works about the forest, nature, home and the Eifel in the Mayen-Koblenz dream trail region. This summer, on July 24, the hike will take you along the Langscheider Wacholderblick dream trail in the volcanic Eastern Eifel and on August 14, along the Niederfeller Schweiz dream trail into the picturesque Moselle valley.

The new director of the Burgfestspiele, Alexander May, will also be taking part and, together with a surprise guest, will enrich the hikes with stories about myths, legends, witches and forest spirits. “I’m really looking forward to it, because I feel a connection to the Eifel and think the dream trails are great,” says Alexander May, who will also focus on passion and quality on the premium hiking trails, just as he does at the castle festivals. “The Dream Trails and Castle Festival are two flagships of our beautiful district, and their popularity is constantly growing. It is therefore no coincidence that this cooperation is also always in great demand, says District Administrator Dr. Alexander Saftig.

REMET is delighted that the new director of the Burgfestspiele has left no doubt that this successful model must be continued. “Not only do both partners benefit equally when we draw attention to each other, but ultimately our guests do too. Premium hiking during the day and enjoying the castle festival in the evening – that’s a great and popular offer,” says Michael Schwippert, Deputy Managing Director of REMET. Anyone interested should therefore be quick, as the number of participants on the Sunday hikes, which start at 2 pm, is limited. The tour on July 24 on the dream trail Langscheider Wacholderblick leads into the realm of juniper heaths and reveals fantastic panoramic views of the Nettetal valley and the volcanic Eastern Eifel. And on August 24, the Niederfeller Schweiz dream trail takes you along green-lined paths and springy forest trails through idyllic natural landscapes above the Moselle.
